About this artwork
With "Color Inside," I wanted to visualize the contrast between outward reserve and inner vitality. The figure is painted in shades of gray—almost monochrome, calm, detached. And yet, color breaks through everywhere: in the reflections of the sunglasses, on the lips, in the background. For me, this symbolizes the world as it pulsates inside this person—intense, colorful, full of life.
The rainbow colors represent diversity, identity, and self-determination.… The figure's gaze is directed forward, confident, and cool—and it's precisely this contrast between inner fire and outer calm that creates the tension of the image for me.
With this work I want to show that what we see is often only a fraction of what shines within us.
Artist Wendy Habegger combines her passion for painting and baking, specializing in acrylic painting. After a career as a baker and pastry chef, she combines various techniques and styles, creating a multifaceted visual language and deliberately pushing the boundaries between analog and digital aesthetics. Her experimental approach and her play with perception and illusion in the form of grid structures and overlays convey emotions, playfulness, and irony, as well as deeper themes of identity and self in the digital space.
