About this artwork
The Cassowary is an enormous, impressive and beautifully colored flightless bird with gigantic legs, native to Australia. The bird's posture is stately, with its powerful legs in a threatening position. Those legs are a real weapon, a kick can easily break the legs of an adult human. The colors of the Cassowary vary from intense blue and red to white and black and make this bird unique. Only a few hundred of these birds remain in the wild in Australia.…
During my stay at a campsite in Australia I came across these impressive birds. There were signs everywhere that read: "Beware of the Cassowaries because they are very dangerous." It was an impressive encounter that I wanted to capture in bronze.
