About this artwork
The Waaierhoen is rich in details. I wanted to convey a sense of movement and energy and looked for this in the courtship posture of the fowl: a widely spread tail and raised wings. Each feather is individually sculpted with lines that reflect the natural arrangement and variety of size and shape to capture the natural beauty of the bird.
