About this artwork
Ik heb het bronzen beeld Kristie gemaakt naar aanleiding van een kinderverjaardag. Alle kinderen waren daar uitbundig feest aan het vieren, maar dit meisje zat heerlijk tussen al het feestgewoel, in een hoekje van de kamer, op de grond te tekenen. Ik observeerde een uniek, onverwacht en alledaags fascinerend moment en was onder de indruk van haar concentratie en gedrevenheid. Het raakte mij enorm, en vond het zo bijzonder dat ik een paar foto’s van…
haar gemaakt heb. Ik wilde dit vastleggen en voelde dat ik dit moest gaan verbeelden in een sculptuur wat dit unieke en persoonlijke moment vertelt. Vervolgens ben ik toen in mijn atelier met het beeld aan de slag gegaan.
