With Opus VI–Top Dead Center, the series reaches a pivotal moment of alignment. The circular composition introduces a unifying motion — a symbolic axis where energy gathers, pauses, and begins again. The title reflects that moment of suspended potential: the top of a cycle where compression meets release, and the next phase is imminent. The textures remain raw and layered, yet the composition suggests a newfound clarity, as if all previous explorations… have converged into a single, resonant center. William Hall, an American painter and sculptor with a background in experimental art and formal training at the University of Texas, melds painting and sculptural techniques into striking “wall reliefs.” He works primarily with masonry materials—cement, grout, mortar, plaster—invoking the tactile quality of earth itself, often employing casting, pouring, polishing, and acid staining for infinite textures. Inspired by the raw mechanics of the natural world and his Native American heritage, he seeks to evoke awe, inviting the viewer to experience the meditative surrender and serendipity present in his artistic process.
