About this artwork
In 2019 I took part in the "Studio in the Church" in Münstermaifeld. The topic was "Remembering". My father was a forester, neat and proper, and I actually wanted to cut up his uniform jacket to make a collage out of it. I had chosen the altar as my workstation and used the view into the nave to make a composition sketch. I noticed that the large building was not axially symmetrical, but was slightly slanted. canvas represent the buttons of the uniform, the different shades of green represent the forester's clothing, and the asymmetrical nave represents the slight deviations in my father's life. The lines of the stylized floor plan form the letters of his name HELMUT.
