About this artwork
The sculpture "Scream I" is a clay model and then cement cast. The surface was designed with oil paints and partially also with polishing wax. The work is to be understood as a continuation of this theme in the previously created sculpture "Kleiner Schrei I". Experimentation with existential forms of human expression provided the thematic reason for this work. Classic motifs on this subject, such as "The Scream" by Edvard Munch or Bernini's damned…
soul, also provided decisive inspiration. The incensed outburst of emotion, accomplished in an uncontrolled scream, offers a challenging question about the conditions of human existence.

Wolfgang Eckert is a sculptor based in Germany whose works have been exhibited both nationally and in France. Fascinated by the connection between plastic-spatial relationships and the human expression that becomes evident in them, his pieces are an "observation of nature and exploration of individuality".
