About this artwork
The material is a high temperature ceramic and glaze. This glaze is metallic with many micro-crystals, and it's a custom-made glaze by the author. The sculpture is stoneware hard ceramic. It can be very safe packed in a crate for shipment. The head is inspired in the classical Hellenistic bronze sculpture "The boxer".

Xavier Escala is an experienced sculptor based in Spain whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Italy, Switzerland, Ukraine, and Turkey. Fascinated by the poetic, intellectual, and spiritual part of the sculpture, he continuously searches for the hidden beauty in nature. Escala's figurative pieces are first conceived by sketches and are then carved in stone and wood. His striking classically inspired works are translated through marble, bronze and ceramics.
