About this artwork
Torso of earth element. Material is stoneware hard ceramics with a metallic glaze with golden shades, custom made by the artist. It is fired in a reduction kiln to reach the quality and veriety of colour. A Sapelly-wood small basement is included. It's a unique work from a series of "Elementals".

Xavier Escala is an experienced sculptor based in Spain whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Italy, Switzerland, Ukraine, and Turkey. Fascinated by the poetic, intellectual, and spiritual part of the sculpture, he continuously searches for the hidden beauty in nature. Escala's figurative pieces are first conceived by sketches and are then carved in stone and wood. His striking classically inspired works are translated through marble, bronze and ceramics.
