About this artwork
Our world is becoming increasingly globalised. Since the founding of empires and the conquest of new colonies, this world has been changing in the direction of more and more connections, both cultural and ethnic. By the end of the 20th century, communication had accelerated this process many times over. As a result of this process of globalisation, we carry, or will soon carry, all the elements of all ethnicities within us.
This series of three graphics… is dedicated to this process.
Three portraits of women of the same size, representing different cultures, were drawn. These works were then cut into identical squares and assembled like mosaics or collages to create 3 new paintings

Yaroslav Kurbanov is a painter, draftsman, and sculptor based in Germany whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, in Italy, Russia, Czechia, Finland, the United States, Mexico, China, and the Netherlands. His art attempts to answer the eternal questions of the origins of self, the meaning of one's life, and the essence of happiness and love. Kurbanov's compositions also explore loyalty and betrayal, fear and composure, as well as the discrepancies between the inner world and the external image.
