About this artwork
The Sanskrit term Surya means “sun” or “sun god”. In Hinduism Surya is revered as the creator of life on Earth. We discover a woman running in the savannah towards the setting sun. A landscape of warm colors presents itself to our gaze. The work embodies our connection to the earth and reveals the beauty of African nature: the fragile ecosystem of mangroves composed of mangrove trees, testimony to the border between the terrestrial and marine world;… the baobab, sacred tree of life; the velocity of the impala; as well as the elegance of giraffes, symbol of connection between earth and sky. Plants, animals and humans intertwine harmoniously and coexist in a space that celebrates the essence of nature, its beauty and fragility, and invites us to travel.
Zoé Audou, trained in architecture and art, bases her pictorial expression on her teaching of the visual arts. His palette ranges from intimate figurative paintings to large canvases, using detail to capture the essence of time and memory, with environmental and travel themes. His works, imbued with meditation, invite you on an inner journey, revealing the ephemeral beauty and fragility of our lives.
