About this artwork
“Mango Woman” celebrates the grace and strength of Afro-Caribbean women who carry tradition, labor, and nourishment with quiet dignity. Her faceless form represents every woman selling fruit in the heat, feeding families, and holding communities together. The mango symbolizes sweetness born from struggle — a reminder of how our women turn the simplest gifts of the land into abundance. This piece honors resilience, heritage, and the timeless beauty… of Caribbean womanhood. once the original is sold, only limited prints will be available afterwards.
My roots in African American and Puerto Rican heritage infuse my vibrant styles with vibrant cultural storytelling. My work weaves together contemporary abstraction, urban folk narrative, and Afro-Caribbean symbolism. My working class parents were both creative people, he was an aspiring screenwriter, she was an aspiring fashion designer, they raised me in East Harlem NYC. I was a shy, introverted child with a lot of imagination. By my early twenties I worked my way through fashion and art school. Painting since I was 15, 40 years later I'm finally comfortable in my creativity and have devoted myself to exploring subjects and topics of interest to me. I'm neurodivergent so my styles vary, greatly. What brings me joy is knowing that I am contributing beauty and a piece of my heritage to those sophisticated enough to appreciate it. I have 3 cats, I also write novels and I'm working on an art book of my work to debut next year. My official studio site is : www.greenview-art-studio.com
