About this artwork
This work began as a moment of interruption. I was repairing a damaged canvas, and instead of hiding the flaw, I responded to it.
I worked directly with my hands, using my fingers to push, drag, and build the surface. That physical process allowed the painting to develop naturally, without overthinking or control.
What emerged is a point of tension between opposing forces. One side carries depth and stillness, while the other radiates heat and… expansion. The center becomes a place of collision, where these forces meet and transform.
I see this piece as a reflection of internal experience—how pressure, emotion, and energy move through us and reshape what we are. It mirrors the way something unseen can suddenly take form, much like a cosmic event.
I chose to stop at the moment where the energy felt most honest, allowing the surface to remain raw, textured, and unresolved.

My roots in African American and Puerto Rican heritage infuse my vibrant styles with vibrant cultural storytelling. My work weaves together contemporary abstraction, urban folk narrative, and Afro-Caribbean symbolism. My working class parents were both creative people, he was an aspiring screenwriter, she was an aspiring fashion designer, they raised me in East Harlem NYC. I was a shy, introverted child with a lot of imagination. By my early twenties I worked my way through fashion and art school. Painting since I was 15, 40 years later I'm finally comfortable in my creativity and have devoted myself to exploring subjects and topics of interest to me. I'm neurodivergent so my styles vary, greatly.What brings me joy is knowing that I am contributing beauty and a piece of my heritage to those sophisticated enough to appreciate it.
