A curation by Natalie Slater, Curator at Singulart - 'Come to My Party' brings together works that treat celebration as both subject and structure. Cakes, candles, pets, gifts, and figures circulate through scenes that feel staged but unstable—part domestic ritual, part theatrical set.
These are not depictions of joy so much as moments organized around it. Frosting melts. Candles lean. Tables strain under color and ornament. Figures appear absorbed, distracted, or partially displaced by the spectacle around them. The party happens, but not without friction.
Across painting and mixed media, excess becomes compositional strategy. Color is loud, surfaces are saturated, and sweetness is pushed to the point of collapse. What should feel light instead feels deliberate—almost formal—held in place just long enough to register.
This is celebration without sentimentality. The room is dressed. The cake is cut. Someone stays too long.
