Professional dancer Shanna LeFleur once said, “It takes an athlete to dance, but an artist to be a dancer.” From Henri Matisse’s Fauvist interpretation of dance, to JR’s installation at the Lincoln Center created in collaboration with dancers from the New York City Ballet, visual artists have been inspired by dancers for centuries.
