A curation by Raffaella Nobili, Owner and curator at Paraventi Giapponesi - This curation constitutes the second part of a complementary project dedicated to the horizon; seascapes contain elements for which the threshold becomes the limit that separates and, at the same time, attracts.
If the earth is divided into boundaries that we can measure, inhabit, traverse, and shape, the sea, by its very nature, cannot be circumscribed. It is a boundary territory: it is not inhabited, it is traversed. A mobile and changeable space, placid but also unstable and full of mystery, danger, and possibility.
The marine horizon does not reassure but calls with ancestral vocation.
As for Ulysses, the unknown attracts and invites us to go beyond.
It is a promise of discovery, transformation, and overcoming.
