About this artwork
The work "Primary Code" (2025) explores the origins of visual language with a contemporary sensibility, connecting sign, material, and ancestral memory. Created in oil and natural spices on a bas-relief with a gesso base on canvas, it presents a living surface: the pictorial gesture dialogues with incisions and reliefs that capture light and amplify tactile perception. Abstract shapes and sinuous lines are organized like traces of an archaic alphabet,… halfway between map and writing, suggesting a code that is essential yet open to multiple interpretations. The palette, made up of earthy tones, ochre, and blue, is balanced by darker contrasts that guide the gaze along internal paths. The work invites a slow experience, in which each element appears as a sign of passage between past and present, between instinct and construction. In its balance between order and impulse, Primary Code transforms material into a silent narrative, giving the image an almost ritualistic quality.
« The painting of the future was born in caves, since art has always been the most fascinating medium with which matter depicts the spirit. »
