About this artwork
A friend of the artist is a passionate cave explorer in his spare time and provided him with some photos that he took during his underground explorations. Andreas Garbe was particularly inspired by a recording of a facility that was created in a natural cave in the Saxony area.
The almost mystical depth of the water, which heralds hidden secrets like a glimpse into a hidden universe, the contrast between artificial masonry that shimmers in numerous… shades of red through diffuse lighting, and the natural rock that takes the viewer into the actual entrance of the subterranean cavity fascinated him so much that in this case he distanced himself from his usual premise of having felt and seen places he painted beforehand.
« Art that fascinates me is often like a symbiosis of philosophical magic and good craft. »
Andreas Garbe is an artist based in Germany whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Switzerland. Working abstractly with figurative and representational influences, his diverse compositions are both atmospheric and philosophical. In addition, Garbe explores themes relating to social issues, literature, meditation, and sensory perception. His landscapes, figurative pieces and abstractions are created using acrylics, oils, and resin on canvas.
