This artwork was specifically created and painted for the Met Gala Singulart curated online collection. The Theme of the Met Gala of 2022 is ‘’America: An Anthology of Fashion’’, celebrates American Fashion. It can further be described as ‘’gilded glamour’’ which takes inspiration from The Gilded Age in New York between 1870 and 1890. A time of rapid evolution and urbanization, which also resulted in an iconic era in fashion. Overall, expect outfits…
reflecting opulence, gold, elaborate details, corsets and flared sleeves on this year’s red carpet. This artwork is thus inspired by this year’s theme: fashion inspired by haute couture, glamorous and over-the-top ambiances, colors of gold to reflect the taste that was dominant in end-of-century New York. When thinking of the Met Gala, the artist thinks of America's elite putting on an extravagant and almost decadent show of wealth and power. Symbols of wealth, gold crosses and royal red epitomize this display of power.
