My work captures a vibrant mix of humor and horror, using a simple orange transformed with humanized features and a grotesque expression cut directly from its peel. Demónax was from an opulent family, but he abandoned his wealth to freely dedicate himself to philosophy.2 Highly educated, he knew the most excellent poets by heart, and had accustomed his body to the gymnasium so as not to depend on anyone.3
He did not adhere to a particular philosophical… school,4 but his strongest influences were Socrates, Diogenes the Dog and Aristippus.5 Although he did not use Socratic irony, through his rebukes he sought to imitate doctors, curing the erring of men.6 He reminded the happy of the ephemerality of goods, and the sad that death, like oblivion and freedom, would soon envelop everyone in equality.7 Demonax was only saddened by the illness or death of a friend, because he considered that friendship is the greatest of goods.8

Arturo Prins is an exciting Spanish artist whose style comes from a sensibility of play, discipline, freedom and rebellion, redoubled in a constant reinvention of himself. Thematically, Prins looks to delve into metaphysics, symbolism, esoteric cosmogony, while mixing in humor to soften the transcendent themes in his work. He also describes his work as being "nostalgic for the future, sometimes with a nod to the eclectic spiritualism between East and West."
