The darkness before the awakening.
I raise monarchs in the summertime. This was a reference from a photo I captured just hours before breaking free of its chrysalis. The transformation is magical. Colors seem to illuminate when exposed to direct light (though not suggested to display in full time direct sun light to help prevent natural fading).
Original acrylic paint on stretched canvas, sealed with satin archival UV varnished.

I could let AI write my descriptions, but I refuse. You’re gonna get the real me. I have a dark sense of humor, some would call it morbid, but I have a zest for life. I prefer my home to be dimly lit, but I love when sunlight comes piercing thru the windows, at dawn and dusk. The contrast between dark and light, between day and night. Not looking to make the most profound pieces. I just paint when I feel the urge.
I can’t convince you that you need my art. My only persuasion is the lack thereof. I don’t have a desire to over explain each piece; that’s for you to interpret. That’s the point. You either feel it or you don’t.
