About this artwork
This piece, titled Happily, is inspired by Saint-Exupéry’s words ‘He who would travel happily must travel light.’
Painted as a rainbow-colored cake landscape sprinkled with stars and cheerful little animals, the work expresses the idea that joy grows when we release what weighs us down.
The playful imagery floating clouds, soft colors, and tiny creatures captures the innocence and freedom of traveling lightly, both in life and in spirit.
The lettering… becomes a gentle reminder to embrace simplicity and to carry only what opens the heart.
With its pastel tones and dreamlike optimism, the piece creates a world where even an unbirthday can become a small celebration of happiness.
Daye Park is a South Korean painter with BFA and MFA degrees from Kyung Hee University, working primarily in oil pastel, watercolor, and mixed media reliefs. She masterfully combines traditional Korean painting techniques and folk symbolism with radiant Brazilian influences, sculpting tactile, semi-three-dimensional surfaces using clay accents. Her distinctive style celebrates the merging of two cultures, luminous color, and poetic softness. Park’s art is a heartfelt exploration of migration, longing, and connection; her works radiate warmth, love, and the tender courage to remain true to oneself across distances.
