I paint to capture what eludes me: pulsing emotions, moments I can barely name. In this piece, I let a memory rise like a column of air: the oranges burn like fresh embers, and between them, cold accents burst forth, ordering my breathing. I work in layers; each drawn-out gesture holds a decision and its doubt, each texture is the trace of something I experienced and chose to preserve.
It belongs to Opposite Harmonies, my exploration of the contrasts… that sustain us: impulse and stillness, wound and healing, chaos and rhythm. I'm interested in that boundary where collision doesn't destroy, but rather refines. That's why the central form remains in tension: it's an axis that gathers strength and delivers it in balance.
This work is a place to return to: it changes with the light, with your mood, and with your story; it communicates, it doesn't dictate. Sometimes we don't choose the pieces that accompany us... they find us when we're ready.
Gabriel Lass, painter and sculptor, began his artistic path outlining houses and gardens, but found in painting a place to eternalize feelings. It uses an aesthetic of expressive abstraction, using vibrant colors and dynamic strokes, often with acrylic, seeking textures and layers with different tools and brushes for visual and tactile impact. His work is an eloquent testimony of his deepest emotions, life experiences and significant moments, building an emotional dialogue with the viewer.
