I painted this from inside my home during a snowstorm, watching the garden blur and fracture through heavy falling snow. The figure stands at the threshold, partly silhouetted, caught between the warmth of the interior and the restless weather outside. I was drawn to the way the storm breaks the light into marks and motion, setting cool whites and grays against saturated yellows and greens indoors. There's that moment when you wake up to see the…
