About this artwork
Overalled is a ceramic sculpture exploring how clothing shapes not only our appearance but also our movement and identity. Its geometric, elongated form gives it a presence that feels both solid and rigid, like a figure encased in material and memory.
The overalls, with their wide straps and front pocket, symbolize functional, everyday attire, garments of labor and simplicity. The structured belt reinforces a sense of rigidity, while the deep blue… glaze, reminiscent of faded workwear, enhances the contrast between utility and symbolic weight.
As in my other works, the absence of a human figure invites interpretation. Is this a memory of a garment left behind? A shell representing daily labor? Or an abstract portrait of an absent body? To me, “Overalled” explores material, work, and time - the relationship between clothing and
