About this artwork
Orange is Heather's color.
She says it makes her feel so incredibly good.
90.11° is eleventh in a series she began early in her painting career that reflected the infinity of right angled lines she lived with for decades as an architect. She says as much as she yearned for organic curves in buildings, they can be inconvenient and not so affordable.
Heather's use of angles and shapes are crisp. With the right pigment and texture on canvas,… they’re musical and dynamic. "Follow them with your eyes on this piece and you’ll weave through pearlescent white, metallic gold and vivid swaths of crumbled pastel dust". The indigo and cerulean blue hues along with limey celadon and light turquoise delineate a vibrancy and joy that, "makes me want to paint more." This jazzy dance of pigment will launch a locomotion of thought in it's own cadence.
The 1-1/2” deep museum mount edges of 90.11° are painted as extensions of the main composition.
« If any brushstroke or scrape of the palette knife awakens the emotional part of your mind, the place where you visualize no tangible object you’ve ever known, that is enough. »
