About this artwork
This is another work based on my study of depth and negative space. It wasn't until I finished the first of this series that I became aware of the illusions the pieces create as you view them from different angles. I will continue with this series introducing new patina and finish work.

Jason Rhinevault primarily works with negative spaces and depth in his pieces. The American sculptor offsets some of his compositions from the back mounting plate, by as much as an inch, creating a visual illusion. The use of negative space and depth gives the viewer several aspects to consider. Rhinevault is drawn to metal, as a medium, for its strength and organic qualities. He considers the patina application as important as the welding process.
