About this artwork
This mandala is inspired by a work I saw in an exhibition in Ahrenshoop: "Two Fishermen" by Hans Ticha. The clear forms and graphic colors of this painting immediately appealed to me and sparked the idea for this piece.
The mandala is composed of warm coral and red tones, combined with off-white, gray, and a deep black in the background. The coral red brings warmth and movement to the otherwise calm, symmetrical structure.
As with my mandalas,… the image emerges from the center. Point by point, concentric circles grow, from which floral and graphic forms develop. Many colored dots stand slightly raised on the surface, giving the image a tangible, three-dimensional structure.
The eye quickly finds the center and then wanders calmly through the circles. This creates an image that appears vibrant and at the same time radiates a focused, balancing tranquility.
