About this artwork
This work belongs to the series Landscape-Fragments, in which I work with charcoal on corrugated packing paper. With just a few gestures, imaginary landscapes emerge, oscillating between memory and inner topography. I work ambidextrously: applying with my right hand, blurring with my left. In this way, rock formations, horizons, and atmospheric spaces condense directly from the movement itself. The paper's corrugations refract the light, creating…
a depth that is only partially visible in photographs; its full effect unfolds only from a distance in real space. This work is part of my cycle "Fragments in Futuristic Romanticism," in which I combine analog, haptic processes with the thinking of the digital age.

Laszlo Toth – also known as "Totysseus" – is a classically trained painter, draftsman, and conceptual artist who works at the intersection of haptic materiality and analytical structure, inspired by an early influence from a student of Oskar Kokoschka. His technique combines impasto, minimalist pastel paintings, precisely placed color fields, collages, and large-format acrylic paintings into organically fragmented pictorial spaces, often in series and embedded within his concept of Futurromanticism. His works convey a sensual reflection on fragmentation and condensation, inviting a quiet perception of complex interrelationships – full of tension, attentiveness, and poetic depth.
The series "Splitterwesen" explores fragmented perception and atmospheric depth. Each work bears an SWL catalog number and is part of an ongoing cycle that I develop, document, and continue under my artist name Totysseus on the blog pages of "Totysseus.space".
