About this artwork
In this work, I wanted to capture the exact moment when internal silence is shattered. "Red Line" is a study of human vulnerability and the invisible boundaries we all carry within us.
The monochromatic, hyper-realistic bust represents the raw, unfiltered psyche—a state of existential shock that feels both ancient and deeply personal. I chose a muted, earthy palette to emphasize the anatomical tension, the wide eyes, and the breathless gasp of a… soul confronted by the unspeakable.
The bold crimson stroke is the heart of the piece. It is a jarring intervention, a "point of no return" that slices through the composition. It represents the thresholds we are forced to cross: the line between sanity and chaos, silence and a scream, or the individual and a world that often seeks to mute us.
This painting is an invitation to look closer at your own boundaries. Where do you draw your red line?

I am a Lithuanian artist with more than three decades of experience in visual art, rooted in fresco, bas-relief, and monumental painting. Shaped by European cultural heritage and the old masters, I developed my practice through large-scale commissions for public and private interiors, where I learned to work with structure, surface, atmosphere, and emotional presence. Although I have worked in art for over 30 years, I began focusing on canvas painting only three years ago, which is why my exhibition history in this field is still emerging. In my paintings, I explore the human figure, quiet psychological tension, and the fragile balance between beauty and vulnerability. My wider practice also includes children’s book illustrations, album cover designs, and I was selected to paint for the film The Peasants.
