About this artwork
In this work, I explore the fragile boundary between movement and stillness — the moment when the sea seems to hold its breath. The coastline stretches like a quiet thought, while the waves carve luminous paths through deep blues and soft rose light.
I was inspired by the silence that exists within vast spaces — the kind of silence that is not empty, but alive. The horizon becomes a threshold, and the small boats drifting in the distance remind… us how human presence dissolves into immensity.
I chose acrylic to capture both fluidity and texture — the sweeping motion of water against the structured calm of land. The layered brushwork reflects emotional depth, while the subtle geometric traces suggest that even nature carries hidden order.
Through this painting, I invite the viewer to pause — to stand at the edge of silence and feel the quiet power of openness.

Maksym Stasiuk is a Ukrainian painter, illustrator, and printmaker born in Zhytomyr, Ukraine.
For over 20 years, he illustrated hundreds of children’s books, working in both digital and traditional techniques.
Recently, he returned to his first passion — painting. Maksym works with watercolour, acrylic, and graphic techniques, exploring themes of memory, transformation, and emotional depth.
Since relocating near Lviv with his wife and two children, he has focused on developing his own artistic voice.
Art is a shared path in the Stasiuk family: his wife and daughter are also artists, and their life together is built around creativity and meaning.
