About this artwork
Frida Kahlo was a world-renowned Mexican artist, and her art and artifacts live on in her birthplace, "La Casa Azul," now the acclaimed "Frida Kahlo Museum." La Casa Azul was not only her birthplace, childhood home, but also part of her residence and the place where she died. Frida Kahlo also discovered her talent for painting in this house. Because of the cobalt blue exterior walls of La Casa Azul, it is also called the "Blue House."
In 2013, I… was able to get a firsthand impression of it during a vacation in Mexico. This museum houses Frida Kahlo's most personal belongings, revealing the private world of Latin America's most remarkable artist.
The painting was created using a stencil technique (made by myself) with acrylic paints and paint markers on canvas and stretcher frames (not a spray can technique). It is hand-signed and dated 2023 on the back. The painting has also been given a final varnish.
Manuela Reitz mainly uses acrylic paints, sometimes in combination with watercolors. She uses experimental techniques, with quick, intuitive gestures and the targeted placement of accents with paint markers and black ink. Inspired by nature and childhood motifs, she creates pictures that can be read like books. Her art aims to generate happiness, to enable an emotional journey that touches the heart and makes you forget space and time.
