About this artwork
This photograph immediately evokes a Hitchcockian atmosphere, plunging the viewer into a dramatic and cinematic scene. Dominated by a threatening sky, where dark and tormented clouds seem to accumulate above the Thames, the image is crossed by the flight of several seagulls, their wings spread like disturbing shadows.
The imposing presence of Big Ben and the Parliament buildings, iconic London icons, contrasts with the hustle and bustle of the birds… in the sky. This juxtaposition creates a palpable tension, a sort of silent duel between the imposing architecture, frozen in time, and the unpredictable and free movement of the seagulls. Their flight seems almost chaotic, reminiscent of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds, where the creatures suddenly become menacing.
