About this artwork
In this photograph, I wanted to capture the spirit of Paris by playing on the relationship between movement and stillness, the ephemeral and the eternal. From the Trocadéro esplanade, the Eiffel Tower stands, its head in the mist, almost like a ghost. Its summit disappears into the clouds, giving the impression that it too becomes a ghost among the blurred silhouettes that surround it. I chose a long exposure time to transform the passers-by into…
moving, ghostly shadows, sliding like spirits across the frame. The Eiffel Tower, generally a symbol of solidity and eternity, seems to blend into this evanescent universe, becoming in turn an uncertain presence, a living and breathing monument with the city that surrounds it.
