I had been waiting for the subway exit for a long time when my attention was caught by this woman going up the escalator. Her calm demeanor and her gaze directed upwards evoked for me a kind of inner ascension, a moment of personal reflection in the midst of the urban tumult. I wanted to capture this impression of calm contrasting with the constant energy of the city. I composed the photo by playing with the diagonal lines of the escalator, which… trace a path towards the top of the image, guiding the eye towards the main subject. The white ceramic tiles on the wall and the bright lights of the lamps create a striking contrast with the shadow that envelops the bottom of the frame, accentuating this impression of elevation and movement.

Nicolas "Clint" Drapier is a self-taught photographer whose artistic approach is rooted in his passion for cinema. Inspired by cinematic aesthetics and the narrative power of images, he has developed a style that transcends simple visual capture to invite contemplation and reflection. Working primarily with cutting-edge cameras such as the Leica Q3, Clint excels in the art of sublimating natural light. In his work, he poetically explores the soul of the cities he passes through, whether Paris, London, Lisbon or more unexpected places like Tataouine. He reveals what the overly hurried eye often forgets to see: fragments of humanity and beauty in everyday life, suspended moments that question our relationship to time and space. His photographs are distinguished by their ability to capture the invisible in the visible, to reveal the stories hidden behind a facade, a reflection or a light.
