This original andesite sculpture on green granite stand is one of the latest artworks of the talented Bulgarian contemporary professional sculptor Ognyan Chitakov, deeply inspired by cubism, postmodernism and geometry. Bonnie Elizabeth Parker and Clyde Chestnut Barrow were an American criminal couple who traveled the Central United States with their gang during the Great Depression in 1933-34, known for their bank, store… and gas station robberies. They were eventually betrayed by a friend, and police officers ambushed the couple along a highway in Louisiana, on May 23, 1934. After they attempted to flee the roadblock, police opened fire, killing them. The 1967 film Bonnie and Clyde, directed by Arthur Penn and starring Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway in the title roles, glamorized them with a romantic aura. The artwork is one extraordinary masterpiece and exquisite modern home décor.
« Sculpture is my main way of thinking, my method of communication, my way of living... »
Ognyan Chitakov is an established Bulgarian sculptor whose works have featured in national prizes and exhibitions. He loves sculpture for all the elements it allows him to gather together: form, space, function, architecture, design, engineering, technology and - above all - art. He primarily produces stone works that carry ancient and sacred connections, and whose scale ranges from the modest to the monumental.
