I often work with organic remnants – bones, vertebrae, spines – fragments of life that still resonate with memory and form.
This piece features two small chicken vertebrae with ribs, arranged in mirrored symmetry and mounted on a pigmented, hand-plastered wooden panel. The composition is encased in an oak frame with anti-reflective glass, offering both clarity and protection.
The structure evokes a pair of winged beings – guardians… or messengers – suspended in stillness, yet full of silent presence. Their symmetry suggests vigilance, resonance, and balance.
As with much of my work, nothing is altered – the materials remain as they are. My role is to listen, to reveal.
This is a quiet homage – a gesture of reverence and gratitude for the life these fragments once belonged to, and for the unseen intelligence that moves through all living forms.
Pia Post, a sculptor and conceptual visual artist with roots in interior architecture, cabinetmaking, and international artistic training, works primarily with natural materials such as bones, seeds, and fish spines. Her intuitive, minimal style foregrounds organic textures, quiet geometry, and presence, using custom framing and surfaces to focus the viewer's attention. Post’s art conveys a meditative reverence for nature, inviting contemplation of the cycles of life and the silent, dignified intelligence inherent in overlooked fragments of the natural world.
