About this artwork
LOWESTOFT PRIDE 2025 - 2
I moved closer to the stage for the three acts in this drawing - Big Tasty, Katy Grace and Ivy Aphrodite.
In July 2025, Big Tasty was also the owner of Marilyns, an LGBTQ hang out based in the The Globe pub, across the road from The Mayfly, where Pride after parties were often held, and drag artists regularly performed. (Sadly, Marilyns went out of business a month after Pride).
Big Tasty, Katy Grace and Ivy Aphrodite… are all colourful ands vivid entertainers who, with songs like 'Transgender Trendsetter' and Katy Perry's 'By the Grace of God', focused Lowestoft Pride's feeling of communal unity.
Robert Fairclough, with a background in graphic design and decades of experience in London, works primarily in drawing and painting. His energetic style layers rapid, expressive black pen lines with vibrant oil pastels, capturing the movement and vitality of subjects ranging from local heritage to pop culture. His artworks radiate the passionate energy and vivid colour of daily life, evoking both pride and emotional resonance.
