About this artwork
In this work, I capture a moment of stillness. The figure carries worry and pain within her, and at the same time a quiet hope. Her closed eyes are not a retreat, but a conscious turning inward.
I'm interested in this state between highs and lows, between exhaustion and trust. A brief freezing of the moment when everything becomes still. A breath. A pause.
In stillness, something new emerges: confidence. "Everything will be alright." The surface… shows traces, cracks, and layers, like overlapping experiences.
For me, it's about mindfulness, about returning to oneself. About the trust that even after difficult times, light can grow from within again.

Sarah Giuliani is a Swiss painter who works figuratively with acrylics, charcoal, and mixed media. She studied at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) and combines artistic practice with her background in art education and social work.
Her works are often created on raw cardboard and other unconventional supports. Traces of the material, folds, and cracks remain visible and become part of the narrative. Realistic figures meet expressive surfaces – oscillating between childlike directness, vulnerability, and inner strength.
The focus is on the question of identity, belonging and resilience, and the power that arises when honesty becomes visible.
