About this artwork
In this artwork, I've meticulously harnessed the fluidity of ink and the precision of Glass Dip pen to weave a tapestry of symbolism and emotion - Japanese Kimono style with Ginkgo leafs. Patterns converge and colors dance, encapsulating a cosmos of ideas. It's an ode to the intricate beauty of the natural and spiritual realms, layered with fine art nuance and a whisper of the mystical. Placing this in your home would infuse your space with an air… of contemplation and an embrace of the profound.
This painting was exhibited at the "Intercontinental Expressions" International Art Exhibition organized by First Wish Art Gallery in Tokyo, Japan, 2023, Art Gallery 21

Thea Matins is a Georgian artist based in Japan, working primarily with brush on canvas, ink with a glass dip pen, and digital tools like Procreate. Her work explores themes of time, stillness, and inner transformation through a contemporary yet meditative visual language. She creates across canvas, paper, porcelain, and digital media, often using natural minerals in her paintings.
Matins is also studying traditional Japanese arts, including sometsuke and full porcelain craftsmanship — from shaping to painting — as well as sumi-e and calligraphy, integrating Zen philosophy and ritual into her creative process.
