About this artwork
Sometime during my artistic career, I learned to work with marble dust and to use it in such a way that cracks deliberately form as it dries. This technique fascinates me. I also love combining it with other materials. Over time, I developed my own techniques for bringing textures of varying intensity to the canvas. My style of painting is called "process painting." This means that the painting emerges in a longer process, without initially having… a clear idea of what it should ultimately look like. Often, quite unintentionally, this results in abstract landscapes. That's what happened with this painting. I was almost satisfied with the work I had created. But something was missing. It felt too tame. Boldly, I added a few accents of intense orange oil paint, which turned the painting around. It began to live and radiate. That's how the title "ignite" came about.
From file folder to canvas art / Where opposites meet
Precisely because my professional path was rather “dry,” I always sought balance in creative work. After several years of experience in silk and watercolor painting, I developed a desire to express my freedom more fully. This is how I discovered my current great passion in acrylic painting and mixed media. I learned the craft from internationally renowned artists. I continued to educate myself in my own studio. My images suggest the traces of the long process it often takes to find inner peace. They depict a broad spectrum of life—moments of joy, courage, and lightheartedness, but sometimes also moments of frustration, vulnerability, and chaos. I don't want to provoke with my art, but rather build a bridge - from a stressful everyday life to a world in which our soul can find peace.
