Andreas Gerlach combines painting, digital techniques, and classical printmaking into a unique visual language of geometry, abstraction, color, and rhythm. Influenced by his training as a graphic designer and his studies in mechanical engineering, his work blends constructive precision with intuitive design.
Music plays a central role, exploring how rhythm, sound, and dynamics influence our emotions and perception. Gerlach translates this invisible effect into visual structures and intense color spaces.
At the same time, he does not necessarily understand the completion of a painting as its final state. Some works undergo reversible interventions over time through real, everyday objects—"disturbances" that alter their perception and meaning without affecting the original painting. Whether and when this occurs remains open. Only with the sale does this process end, and the work reaches its final state.
