About this artwork
This is a work conceived in my most purely expressionist style, with its focus on capturing light and color. I want to capture the essence of Nature, rather than its exact details. To do this I use vibrant colors and try to convey immediate perceptions.
Expressionism cannot be understood except in a bold way, although I am aware that you have to choose the theme and the color well and let yourself be carried away by the dream and the details that… flow in your head as the brush develops them. In Passion I have put hope and life into trying to beautify some distant space, but make it feel close...
Ángel Alcalde's artistic career began in Madrid in the late 1970s, in the workshops of hand-painted film posters, where he shared a creative space with Antonio López, a decisive experience in shaping his artistic vision. Later, his interests expanded to include journalism, and in the 1990s, he joined the University of Castilla-La Mancha as Chief of Staff to the Rector, contributing to its institutional development. In 2010, he definitively returned to painting with a mature style, where Impressionism and Expressionism converge through a bold use of color, light, and texture.
