I painted this picture about what happens to us when we close our eyes.
In dreams, the boundaries of time blur — and visions come to us, in which we recognize faces, places, and feelings that did not exist in this life. I believe that it is from there, from the depths of past incarnations, that our talents, our character, our inexplicable drives and recognitions… come to us.
On the canvas is a girl immersed in sleep. Her body is at rest, but around her the elements are seething: swirls of blue, turquoise, and deep indigo swirl into streams that resemble Van Gogh’s starry sky. This is the invisible stream of memory in which she travels while she sleeps. The thick, textured surface of the paint conveys the movement of this energy — it is alive, it breathes.
Her face is calm. She doesn’t fight the visions — she trusts them. And in this trust, it seems to me, lies the key: only by stopping, only by
