This work is from the exhibition "Memories from Past Lives".
At the top of a hill above a river that flows into the sunset, an old sage and a young woman are frozen in quiet conversation. The sage does not teach - he reminds. The woman listens not as if learning something new, but as if recognizing what her soul has already experienced.
The setting sun sky is the boundary between departing and coming… life, the river in the mountains the stream of rebirth, in which each life is simply a turn of the water. The young woman's scarlet dress is the color of life and undying memory, while the older man's ash-gray robe represents the wisdom that has come through fire.
Are they mentor and student? Or are they two souls meeting on different shores of their own river? This painting leaves the answer up to the viewer.
