About this artwork
Nothing puts me in a holiday mood more than a beautiful scarlet amaryllis plant. Adding to the pleasure is the thrill of watching it emerge from its globe shaped bulb and the slowly opening of it petals. I paint it at every stage. This version had to be placed on a chair for me to be able to include its surroundings.
The painting is enhanced by its surface 300lb. Arches watercolor paper with deckle edges. The weight of the paper lends richness… to the whole.
