About this artwork
The peach tree covered with peaches just before their peak of ripeness is a favorite subject for me too paint. It seems as if a moment too long is an opportunity lost because the squirrels will beat me to them and then there are none left. Over the years I have painted peaches in many mediums, on the plate, in the landscape, falling from the sky, under the tree, but never have I painted a very large painting in watercolor that could capture the…
luminosity of the fresh fruit. The issue is the difficulty framing under a glazing.
"Golden Orbs" on Arches coldpress wc paper was painted with watercolor and gauche and laid on a cradled board. The work was first fixed so the watercolor won't move, then the entire work was brushed with several coats of acrylic. When all is absolutely dry I gently rub the acrylic finish with cold wax then buff it leaving a soft finish and ready to frame without glazing or just hung with no extra framing with a contemporary look.
