About this artwork
Early every weekday for several years I have been driving pass a group of men chatting, laughing, smiling, talking seriously with each other; each with a cup of coffee in their hands. Everytime I glance over to be sure the men are there and they almost always are. I do not know who they are and I have never spoken with them but I enjoy and appreciate their obvious companionship.
The men in this work did not give me permission to make this painting.… I did not need their permission because the figures in the painting were drawn from my sketch books now altered to have smiles and coffee cups with their comradeship palpable.
