About this artwork
I've been collecting buttons my whole life. Inherited ones, found ones, saved ones. I never knew what they were for. Then one day I understood — they were for her.
Red Lady is built from real materials: lace from an old blouse, gold thread, fabric flowers, buttons accumulated over years. Each one physically attached to the surface. She wears them like armour. Like a crown. Like everything the women before her carried and made beautiful.
The deep… red ground is Slavic — in folk tradition, red is protection, life, feminine fire. The figure underneath is drawn in pencil and acrylic, patient and still.
What if the small accumulated objects of a woman's life were sacred? What if the domestic was the mythological all along?
