About this artwork
"Memories of the Young" is another work in a series of portraits that deal with the individual and his position in the time frame.
Technique and material: paint application similar to glaze, which creates a significant depth of color in many layers, the effect of which is often enhanced by means of a contrasting, pastose layer of paint.
In 2020 a good friend gave the artist some very old picture frames, which Andreas Garbe reprocessed with acrylic… paint, making sure that the signs of the times, which were caused by splinters, cracks, etc. were visible on the frame, remain present. The pictured Rahman is an integral part of the work of art.
« Art that fascinates me is often like a symbiosis of philosophical magic and good craft. »
Andreas Garbe is an artist based in Germany whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Switzerland. Working abstractly with figurative and representational influences, his diverse compositions are both atmospheric and philosophical. In addition, Garbe explores themes relating to social issues, literature, meditation, and sensory perception. His landscapes, figurative pieces and abstractions are created using acrylics, oils, and resin on canvas.
